EarthSenseAI Center

Accelerating Conservation Insights

with Deep Collaborations and Deep Learning

Our Mission

The EarthSenseAI Center is focused on connecting data collected in real-world environments to impactful conservation insights.  We are composed of applied machine learning scientists with diverse research and development backgrounds and all with a passion for unlocking technology in real-world sensing environments.

Marine Conservation Projects

Oceans make up over 70% of the Earth's surface and provide the primary source of food for more than 3 billion people.  Yet, critical ocean habitats are extremely difficult to explore and monitor.  The EarthSenseAI Center is working with our collaboration partners to use AI to speed up processing of video from underwater vehicles and to automatically recognize individual dolphins using hydrophones.

Terrestrial Conservation Projects

Terrestrial ecosystems are under threat from many factors including development, polution, and the changing climate.  Camera traps are often used by conservation programs to detect animals and understand habitat use.  This generates huge volumes of images or video.  The EarthSenseAI Center is developing machine learning methods to reduce the burden in processing this important data.

Sharing Our Work

The EarthSenseAI Center is dedicated to the open sharing of neural network models that we train and software that we develop.  We will also be sharing progress on our projects and collaborations through blog posts by our machine learning specialists and conservation partners.
